Tomintoul is a charming linear village with a central square. The largest settlement in the Glenlivet Estate the village features a general store, post office, B&Bs, health centre, library and various other shops and a primary school. Additional services including secondary education additional shopping, sporting facilities, including a leisure center and 18 hole golf course, can be found in Grantown on Spey, a 20 minute drive from Tomintoul. Located on the northern slopes of the Cairngorm Mountains the countryside surrounding Tomintoul is superb. It provides an idyllic location for outdoor enthusiasts with endless mountain ranges, rivers and scenery to discover. On its door step is the Lecht Centre and 25miles away is Aviemore, both popular destinations with tourists offering an abundance of diverse seasonal outdoor activities throughout the year from snow sports to cycling, climbing and karting, hunting fishing and shooting are all available close by. Tomintoul is also situated on the Malt Whiskey Trail with a number of distilleries in the vicinity including Glenlivit and Glenfiddoch which attracts high numbers of visitors annually.
